Chapter Thirty- Two

Dream Big

“I need to tell you something.” Audrey murmured, her fingers grasping onto my warm skin and pulling me into the air conditioned house.

Instantly my body cooled, I used the back of my hand to wipe the sweat forming on my brow, pushing the door shut with my foot and following Audrey further into the living room.

“I need to tell you something too.” I mumbled, my hands shaking as I slid them into the pockets of my jersey shorts. “Let me go first.”

Audrey agreed, sitting down next to me on the large sofa.

“Audrey.” I sighed, running my palms up and down my face. “I didn’t know how to t-“

“I want you to move back in.” Audrey blurted out as she grabbed my hands, intertwining our fingers and bringing them up to her lips.

“Wait, what?” I twisted my lips with my eyebrows low.

“I know, I know. I told you we needed space but I changed my mind. I want you here with me, Bry.” She softly kissed my fingertips, her curly hair falling into her chocolate eyes.

Pulling my hand back, I held onto my mouth, trying to figure out exactly what was going on. “Aud, you don’t have to do this. Baby, you have me. I’m yours, you don’t have to move me back in just for that.”

Glancing over at her, the grin on her face faded away, her small body crawling onto my lap.

“I’m trying to fix us, Bryce.” She whispered, wrapping her legs around my waist and gripping onto my jaw. “I want this back. I want us back. Don’t you?”

Resting my forehead against hers, I ran my tongue along my bottom lip, staring into her brown orbs. “Of course I do, I love you, Audrey. So if you want me back, I’ll come back. But, I don’t want you to think you have to do this, baby.”

“Just come home.” She whispered, sliding her hand down to my stomach and gripping onto the fabric of my t-shirt. Audrey smiled, pushing her lips against mine. Within a second, our innocent kiss grew hungrier, my hands sliding under her shirt and stroking her soft skin.

Stumbling into the bedroom, Audrey sat down on the edge of the mattress, looking up at me with her beautiful eyes. My eyes examined her flawless face, her pink lips slightly parted as her chest heaved up and down. I wanted to savor the moment, so badly I wanted to know her body. I needed to know her body, the weeks that had passed without being intimate with her felt like an eternity.

Licking my lips, I pulled my t-shirt off, Audrey looking me up and down before standing to her feet. “I love you so much, Audrey.” I breathed, our bodies meeting and Audrey tucking her fingers into the elastic of my shorts.

“Then show me.” She whispered, biting down on her perfectly plump bottom lip and glancing up at me.

Doing as I was told, I grabbed the bottom of her thighs, wrapping her legs around my waist and carrying her over to the bathroom. Placing her on the counter top, Audreys’ blonde curls fell down onto the top of her shoulders, the sun shining bright through the window onto her caramel skin.

Laying my hand on her shoulder, I slid one of the straps of her shirt down, pressing my lips to her collarbone. Audrey ran her fingers through my hair, lifting my jaw so that our lips roughly collided. The medium sized bathroom grew hot in an instant as our clothing began to disappear.

“I’ve missed you, Bryce.” Audrey managed to whimper in between moans, my tongue trailing down to her navel. Looking up at her, our eyes locked, Audrey glancing over at the window. “Shit.” She groaned, grabbing her tank top from inside the sink and sliding it back down. “Baby, get up.” She sighed, pulling me up some.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, taking a step back and licking my lips.

“I forgot Colby is outside.” Audrey hopped from the counter, my large frame towering over her.

Sucking my teeth, I pushed my excited body against hers, lacing our fingers and raising our hands over our heads. “So what?” I growled, turning her so that she was now up against the wall with nowhere to run.

Still gripping tight onto her hands, I gently kissed her neck, letting my lips brush against her skin.

“Bry, don’t do this.” She murmured, the tips of her fingers now bending and lightly brushing against mine.

“It won’t be long, she can wait.”

“I can’t just leave her out there like that, baby. That’s rude.” Audrey sighed, turning her neck some so that I had better access.

“You know what else is rude?” I sucked rough of her skin, light blowing my warm breath onto her moist neck. “Leaving me like this.” I glanced down at my now hard member visible through my boxers.

Smirking, Audrey tried not to laugh, a smile falling onto my lips as well. Wrapping my legs around her thigh so she could feel what I was feeling, I buried my face into her neck, nibbling at her skin.

“Come on, baby. You know you want it too.” My voice was muffled as I spoke, letting her hands go and sliding my fingers down to her waist and fidgeting with the lace material of her panties.

 Throwing her head back, Audrey looked up at me with her breathtaking smile, my heart nearly stopping as I realized why I fell in love with her in the first place.

It’s simple, she’s so damn amazing.

“Fine, since you’re not gonna budge. You owe me.” I smirked, raising and lowering my eyebrows as I let her go.

“Fine, big baby. I owe you.” She giggled, grabbing her jeans and sliding them back on. “I won’t even be gone 5 minutes; I just can’t leave her out there alone waiting for me.” Audrey explained, turning to the mirror and running her fingers through her curls.

Sliding on the countertop, I watched her through the side mirror, admiring her petite yet curvy body.

“Now give me a kiss.” Audrey smiled, walking towards me and standing in between my legs, her hands resting on my thighs.

“Nope.” I smirked, turning my head to the side and looking at her from the corner of my eyes.

Sucking her teeth, Audrey turned to walk away, my feet locking around her waist and pulling her back. “Just kidding, you want me to move back in so you can be mean to me?” I snickered, pressing my lips together and watching as she pretended to laugh.

“See and that’s exactly why I’m leaving you like that.” She pointed to my center and winked before maneuvering out of my grip and disappearing from the bathroom.

“Evil!” I called behind her, running my hands over my face and taking a deep breath.

Standing to my feet, I stared at myself in the mirror, taking notice to the bags now forming under my eyes. I didn’t look like the same Bryce anymore, my face gaunt and my cheekbones now visible.

I guess this is what stress does to you.

Turning the faucet on, I bent over, letting the cold water hit my warm skin. From the other room I could hear my phone ringing, the water making it muffled. Standing up straight, I snatched the towel from the shelf, clearing my eyes and pacing towards the door. Digging into my pants pocket, I slid the answer action, putting the phone to my ear before looking at the caller ID.

“Hello.” I mumbled, drying the rest of my face and throwing the towel over my shoulder. The line was silent for a moment, the background noise letting me know someone was indeed on the other end. Pulling the phone back, my heart nearly dropped as I saw who was calling.

“What do you want?” I growled, my jaw now clenched tight.

Nothing made sense anymore after those few words were said, my vision now blurry as tears fell from my eyes.

“How?” My voice cracked as I looked up to see Audrey walking into the room, the smile on her face quickly fading as she noticed me crying.

With her brows low, she walked over to me, her hands resting on both sides of my torso.

“Alright, I’ll be there soon.” I mumbled, my nose now stuffy.

Throwing the phone down onto the bed, I used the towel to wipe my eyes, holding it over my face for a few minutes as tears quickly escaped. Audrey didn’t bother to press the situation, gripping tight onto my body. Taking a deep breath, I snaked my arms around her shoulders, resting my chin on the top of her head. The house was completely silent, the only thing that could be heard was my heart pounding in my chest.

“My father’s dead.” My voice trembled as I spoke, tears continuing to form in my eyes.

I’ll never understand why things happen the way they do. Never.
